La Marina Alta
The Marina Alta is a coastal region, the most northerly in the province of Alicante. Its orography is quite complex, as it is crossed by numerous mountains, valleys and a very rugged coastline. There are numerous cliffs, coves and headlands to be found in these lands.
The coast of this region has some of the most emblematic features of the province, such as Cabo de San Antonio, Cabo de San Martín, and Cabo de la Nao, as well as the well-known Peñón de Ifach, in the town of Calpe.
There are important mountain formations, such as the Sierra de Bernia, or the Montgó.
It is also worth mentioning the importance of the marshes of Pego - Oliva, inland marshes. In the interior of this region, the sub region of the Pego Valleys also stands out.
In the region there are some watercourses such as the rivers Bullent, Racons, Girona and Gorgos.
Els Poblets
In the urban and rural landscape of this municipality is diluted an Arab origin that was born from the presence of three small farmhouses, ‘Els Llocs’, which with the passage of time gave rise to Setla, Mirarosa and Miraflor, nuclei definitively united in 1971 and popularly known by the name of Els Poblets. On 25th November 1991, it was agreed to change the name of the municipality, which was officially renamed Els Poblets. The coastal strip of this town is home to the testimony of the oldest settlers and reminds us that we are on the route of the Via Augusta, which connected the entire Mediterranean coast of Hispania.
